Restoration vs. Tooth Extraction
The goal of dentistry is to maintain functional teeth in a healthy state, so they can support proper chewing and stabilize your bite. When possible, our dentists will repair a damaged tooth. Restorative dentistry focuses on restoring teeth in the least invasive way possible.
When a tooth hurts, it is only natural that a patient would request an extraction to make the pain stop. It is commonly thought that the least expensive solution is extraction. However, when a tooth is lost the surrounding teeth will move and shift into the open space. This can lead to further dental issues in the future.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth extraction is a common oral surgery procedure. The majority of adult patients will develop one or more wisdom teeth by their late teens or early twenties. Spacing issues and difficulty in keeping the teeth cleaned properly can lead to problems with the wisdom teeth.
Dr. Sanders and Dr. Chandler are experienced in removing wisdom teeth in some cases, wisdom teeth extractions are referred to an oral surgeon to provide the best care for our patients.
